About Us
SOMOS Latinx Literary Magazine strives to cultivate a supportive space of expression for Brown and RISD’s Latinx students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as the greater Providence Latinx community. We hope to uplift our community’s explorations of heritage and individuality through a celebration of their art and creativity. Our publication promotes a dialogue which centers Latinx cultures, histories, and intersecting identities — especially those relating to Indigeneity, Blackness, migration, and queerness.

Interested in joining our team? We have a variety of positions available including Publicity Managers, Language Editors (Spanish, Portuguese, and English), Design Editors, and Managing Editors. No prior writing or editing experience is necessary, we simply ask for creative vision and an enthusiasm for Latinx writing and art! We conduct recruitment for new members at the beginning of each semester. You must be a Brown or RISD student to apply. Fill out our application to be considered!

Carolina Correa

Caro is a senior from East Los Angeles, concentrating in Environmental Studies and Hispanic Studies. In her free time, Caro enjoys reading, dancing, and making playlists with her friends.
Kian Braulik

Kian is a sophomore from Berkeley-ish, California, concentrating in Comparative Literature. When they get the chance to, they enjoy seeing theatre, listening to albums, and reading fiction.
Alec Lippman

Alec is a first year from Austin, Texas, who is undeclared and exploring the intersections between Computer Science and Cognitive Neuroscience. During their free time they enjoy setting up their hammock in a good spot outside, reading, finding new music, and exploring nature and the city with friends.
Nikita Baregala Lopez

Nikita is a junior from Houston, Texas concentrating in Public Health! Over the past year, while on leave, she spent time with family in Guatemala, reading, listening to music, and going on walks/jogs.
Monik Rodriguez

Monik is a first-year from South Texas, concentrating in Philosophy and Literary Arts. During their free time, they enjoy writing poetry, reading Spanish literature, and making art with oil pastels.

Gabriel is a first-year from Ripon, California hoping to concentrate in Architecture or Design Engineering. In his free time, Gabriel enjoys spending time outside: rollerblading, reading, and having picnics!

Miriam is a junior from Panamá and upstate New York concentrating in architecture and Latin American & Caribbean studies. You can often find her with paint on her clothes, reading Spanish literature, and sipping a matcha latte.

Julia is a first-year from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil exploring literature, writing and political science. You can always find her scribbling in the margins of books, making tea, or taking a nap.

Sabrina Sanclemente

Sabrina is a first-year from a small town in Connecticut, hoping to double concentrate in Modern Culture and Media and Literary Arts.
